Zelensky was in Norway that day attending activities related to the funeral of the late King Harald V. A wartime leader's aircraft encountering delay in the airspace of a third country is no longer an abstract narrative of war spillover, but has already translated into real costs at the level of high-level diplomatic travel.

Moldova shares a direct border with Ukraine and has long stood in the shadow of the conflict's front line. The country is neither a NATO member nor part of the European Union, and lacks institutional shelter under collective security arrangements. A drone crossing its airspace and crashing within its territory means that this gray zone, devoid of hard security buffers, is being continuously eroded.
