Drone Offense-Defense Race Escalates Again: Russia Deploys Jet-Powered "Shahed," Interception Weapons Debut at Kielce Defense Expo

According to France 24 reports, Russia has in recent weeks continuously deployed jet-powered versions of the "Shahed" type drones to Ukraine, posing new speed and penetration challenges to Ukraine's air defense system. France 24 reporter Gulliver Cragg's dispatch from Kielce, Poland noted that Kyiv is stepping up the development of interceptor drones capable of matching their speed and shooting them down.

The report shows that related research and development results have not remained in laboratories or closed test ranges, but have been centrally unveiled at the booths of the Kielce Defense Expo — one of Europe's largest arms sales events. Roman Hapachylo, CEO of Ukraine's DoD Solution company, is one of the manufacturer representatives France 24 spoke with on site at the expo, whose company is a participant in developing such interception technologies.

The Kielce Defense Expo itself provides another reference point for understanding this escalation in offense and defense.
